WackyTailered: Quelf – A Board Game Review

Have you ever wanted to embarrass yourself in front of your friends and family? Quelf is nothing more than an obey the card game. Whatever the card says to do, you do it. At first I was skeptical because I don’t like being made to feel like an idiot but in the end I had a lot of fun. I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard.

How to Play:

Choose a color.
Roll the dice.
Move that many spaces.
Select the card from that color.
Do the action or PAY THE PENALTY!
Whoever gets to the end first wins!

Each color is different category:

Red: “Categories” There are two different categories and you have to go around in a circle and name something in that category. If you don’t you suffer the penalty. The categories are sometimes dumb and usually someone gives up before it becomes monotonous.

Green: “Questions” This is basic trivia questions. Sometimes there is a bonus question to move ahead additional spaces. If you get the question wrong you suffer the penalty.

Yellow: “Stunts” This is why I peed my pants. Building a pillow fort and hiding in it until your next turn. Staring into space until it’s your next turn. If you look at anyone you get hit wit the penalty.

Purple: “Perform” This is also hilarious. I didn’t think watching my friend pretend to ride an Ostrich or take off his shirt and belly dance would be this fun. But it was.

Note: Sometimes these cards are classified which means you can’t tell the other players what is going on. This sometimes makes it hilarious and if they follow you or do a certain action can move up spaces

Blue: “Roolz” These rule cards can either effect you or everyone. They can be an action or a verbal rule. For example one action is that you can’t use your hands at all when it’s not your turn. And another one is you have to add -izzle after every word. It-izzle gets-izzle annoying-izzle. We have a house rule that if the rule is of the same type it gets replaced.

Overall: I’d recommend checking it out. It’s family friendly and the game can go on for an hour or more so it’s a perfect addition to family game night.
