The SGEED - 2010 concluded successfully its works with the promise of a new international Conference in the forthcoming year. 

The experience accumulated during this three-day event is a guarantee of even greater success and even more stimulating discussions and events.

Rationale

The Conference focuses on the potential of Serious Games to contribute to education and to sustainable economic development. The scope is to bridge developments in the sector of serious games with market needs and regional initiatives.

 

SGEED-2010 will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices among developers, experts, innovative companies, policy makers, publishers and practitioners, industry leaders, educators, researchers and teachers. Discussions will revolve around how video games, digital and social media are having a positive impact on learning while developing essential skills that learners and the industry require to compete in the 21st century.

Context

This Conference is organized in the context of project LUDUS (in Latin, “game”, http://www.ludus-project.eu) whose objective is the creation of a European network for the transfer of knowledge and dissemination of best practices in the innovative field of Serious Games. The LUDUS project is co-funded by the SEE Programme (http://www.southeast-europe.net).

The Conference is organized by the Business Innovation Center of Epirus (http://www.bicepirus.gr), a regional body aiming to promote innovation and the creation of SMEs in the Region of Epirus, northwest Greece.
